With medical experts saying to maintain “social distance” and avoid public gatherings due to the COVID-19 coronavirus breakout, we are postponing the ASH Spring Classic competition originally scheduled for April 3 and 4 in Phoenix. Judging beers requires several days of extended contact in close quarters while handling and sampling an often shared product. As much as we look forward to spending a couple of days in close quarters sharing beers among friends, the uncertainty of the coming weeks and possible spread of the virus led us to conclude that this is the most responsible and prudent course of action.
Our ability to reschedule the judging is dependent on factors outside of our control but our goal is to reschedule as soon as we can ensure a safe judging environment for our volunteers.
We want to honor the entry reservations of those who registered and paid and want to enter when the event is rescheduled. This year’s competition entry slate filled up quickly so there is a value in maintaining your registration since we cannot guarantee your slot unless you maintain your registration as active.
Please pay careful attention to the following so we can keep your entry managed properly:
- If you have entered, DO NOT submit your entries to drop off locations or send entries until we have confirmed the reschedule date. We cannot store your entries indefinitely and will not return entries received due to cost and effort.
- If you have not yet paid your entry fee and wish to cancel your participation, please cancel your entries through the competition site at https://azhomebrewers.org/brewcomp/
- If you have paid your entry fees and wish to cancel participation, please email (who?) and we will cancel your entries and refund you entry fees
- If you want to hold your spot for the rescheduled competition, pay all of your entry fees and your participation will be reserved
If we are unable to reschedule prior to June 15, 2020, we will refund all entry fees for all participants and cancel the competition.
These are unpredictable days and we hope you’ll be patient as we work through this unprecedented situation.
Relax, don’t worry, and have a homebrew. And stay healthy.
