General Rules

This competition is AHA/BJCP sanctioned and open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older. All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

All entries must be received at an approved drop off location by the entry deadline - please allow for shipping time if shipping your entries. Please make a note of each location's drop off deadline on the Entry Info page, especially Tucson locations with an earlier deadline than Phoenix-Metro locations.

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrive damaged. The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge. Brewers may only enter one beer per subcategory (e.g. you could enter a Best Bitter and a Strong Bitter, but not two Strong Bitters).

Please fill out the online entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry

Prize Rules

Medal categories will be determined by the competition organizer; multiple BJCP categories may be combined to create an appropriate pool on entries.

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category based on judging; additional medals for co-brewers may be purchased for $10 per medal plus $3.50 shipping per location by contacting the organizer. A minimum score of 28 is required to earn a medal. Places are awarded at the discretion of the judges. Each entry is entitled to one medal; for entries brewed by multiple brewers, additional medals may be purchased.

The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round. Highly-qualified BJCP judges will sample all gold medal beers and select one Best of Show winner based on beer quality, stylistic accuracy and overall drinking pleasure.

Entry Limit

This competition is limited to 250 entries in total, and a maximum of 7 entries per person.
