Rules

Beer Best of Show Prize!

The BOS winner will brew their beer at Grand Canyon Brewing Co and receive a two night stay a the Grand Canyon Brewing Cabin in Williams AZ, along with a $60 GCB gift card! See rules section for more details. Big thanks to Grand Canyon for stepping up and offering this prize!

 Bottle Acceptance Rules

12oz brown glass bottles are preferred; however, green and clear glass will be accepted. Swing top bottles will likewise be accepted as well as corked bottles. 16 and 22 ounce bottles are accepted, but the bottle needs below are still required. Mead entries may be in smaller 8 ounce bottles.

Bottles must be free of any markings or labels. Common craft beer bottles that are embossed (e.g Sam Adams or Widmer) are allowed. Printed caps are allowed, but must be blacked out completely. Entries that violate this rule will be disqualified from winning awards at the discretion of the competition organizer. Entries will still be judged and feedback returned to the entrant. Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants.

You must submit 2 bottles for each entry. One bottle is used for initial judging and one bottle is used for BOS prize judging. Entries with only one bottle may not be eligible for prizes if there is not enough sample left for the judging of the final round.

Print out bottle labels from this website and RUBBER BAND them to each bottle. You do NOT need to print out and submit a recipe sheet. Bottles with the ID forms taped or glued to them may be disqualified.

Prize Rules

Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category. A minimum score of 28 is required to earn a medal. Each entry is entitled to one medal; for entries brewed by multiple brewers, additional medals may be purchased.

The 1st place entry in each category will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round. Highly-qualified BJCP judges will sample all gold medal beers and select one Best of Show winner based on beer quality, stylistic accuracy and overall drinking pleasure. NOTE: Only AZ Residents are eligible to win this prize, and determination of residency is at the sole discretion of the Competition Organizer. Grand Canyon Brewing Co reserves the right to modify the winning homebrew recipe as needed for commercial and brewing process reasons.

Entry Limit

This competition is limited to 10 entries per person.

General Rules

This competition is AHA/BJCP sanctioned and open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older. All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

All entries must received at an approved drop off location by the entry deadline - please allow for shipping time if shipping your entries. Please make a note of each location's drop off deadline on the Entry Info page, especially Tucson locations with an earlier deadline than Phoenix-Metro locations.

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrive damaged. The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge. Brewers may only enter one beer per subcategory (e.g. you could enter a Best Bitter and a Strong Bitter, but not two Strong Bitters).

Please fill out the online entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring of your entry.
