We NEED Your Help!

WE ARE IN NEED OF HELP TO RUN THIS COMPETITION! If you are interested in helping out in any of the following ways, please contact Dennis Mitchell, Competition Organizer.

  • Cellar Manager / Entry Coordinator – We are looking for a non-judge to assist with the management of bottle sorting as well as the data entry of scores into the online system during the competition. Volunteer times would include the evenings of Thursday/Friday, October 20-21 and the day of Saturday Oct 22nd. We could split this role among two people, and some computer skills are needed.
  • Bottle Sorters – On Thursday, Oct. 20th, we will be sorting around 500-600 bottles, which involves unpacking them, scanning them into the system, sticking on judging labels and organizing bottles in the cooler. The more people we have help out, the faster this will go. We’ll provide some beer and pizza for those who help out.
  • Bottle Collectors – On Thursday, Oct. 20th, we will need to collect entries from four Phoenix-area homebrew stores (BYOB Gilbert/Scottsdale, Brewer’s Connection Tempe and What Ales Ya Glendale). Help is always appreciated in getting these entries from the stores to the clubhouse.
  • Stewards – Stewards are in integral part of running the competition. They help judges focus on judging by bringing them beer and helping fill out paperwork. Stewarding is a great way to learn about how competitions work and get some tastes of great and not-so-great homebrew. Volunteer times are Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning/afternoon.
  • Judges – If you are a BJCP ranked judge, have other judging credentials or are just really interested in becoming a beer judge, we need your help! Judges can register and indicate their availability using the competition website above. New judges will be paired with experienced judges. The majority of judging will occur Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning/afternoon.
