November 2019 General Meeting

7:00 pm / 9:00 pm

Come out to Uncle Bears, 612 East Germann Road, Gilbert, Arizona 85297 for the last General Meeting of the year. The main content will encompass Mead making. Presentation by Tim Wildenhain. The meeting starts at 7 pm and ends at 9. Bring your homebrew to share. If you are entering the last mini-comp (Stouts), bring your entries to the meeting.

Advanced Mead Topics: Acid balancing and Backsweetening

Tim will be bringing in a batch of Orange Blossom traditional mead that has gone through primary fermentation and has been stabilized. At the meeting, there will be samples of what the mead tastes like straight from primary.

An overview of the different acids used to acidify the mead and the importance of pH

We will be back sweetening to a target and sharing at each step.
Then we will drop the pH as needed to balance.

We will also be welcoming Thomas Hubbe from Bee Seasonal Honey. He will have some samples on hand and an overview of this new local honey supply.

The last mini-comp entries are due:
Stouts (BJCP 2015 Style Guidelines Categories 15B, 15C, 16A, 16B, 16C, 16D and 20B)
Please bring Entries to the General Meeting
Cut off date for entries is November 19, 2019
Judging is planned for December 4, 2019
